While working with a dysregulated client, Jenny noticed the boy couldn’t sit still, had trouble focusing, and jumped between activities. Recognizing that weight could help provide calming pressure for better body awareness, she tried using a weighted vest. However, the boy refused to wear it. Thinking quickly, Jenny added a cape, wrist, and ankle weights, and even printed a Superman logo to make it more appealing. She encouraged him to pretend he was Superman—and he immediately put it on.

The transformation was remarkable: he became calmer, more focused, and more aware of his body in space. That moment inspired Jenny to create Dress Up to Calm Down —a fun, engaging alternative to traditional weighted therapy tools that kids would actually want to wear and benefit from. Initially, focusing on weighted costumes, feedback showed a strong demand for more subtle options suitable for home, school, and community use and more than just kids need these products.  

We are excited to introduce our new identity as Flutterby, which embodies transformation and comfort for all. Inspired by the journey of overcoming hardship, Flutterby represents hope and change. The playful twist on “butterfly” symbolizes growth and resilience, reminding us that, like butterflies, we can all emerge stronger.
